 Department of Forestry has organized a two-day training programme on Ikebana (Flower arrangement) and Bonsai practices for women singarenians at KCOA club,Kothagudem on the eve of Women's day celebrations...10th and 11th March,2006
 
 
 
The objective of the programme was to introduce the women folk of singareni to an innovative approach to love the plants, which could also help to cleanse the pollutants in their home environment. The practice of Ikebana and Bonsai has the potential of turning out to be an economically viable enterprise in the direction of economic independence for the women.
 
The training was conducted by Dr. N. Managa Devi, Director of Sri Venkateswara Balakutir, Guntur, recipient of many national and international awards in the fields of innovative methods of education, social service and the arts of Bonsai and Ikebana. A regular contributor to vernacular dailies like Eenadu on the practices of Bonsai and Ikebana, she is the author of “Vaamana Vrikshalu” which is the most authoritative book on Bonsai practices.
 
The programme was voluntarily attended by approx.100 women – comprising of SEWA members, lady employees of SCCL, and adult female children of Singarenians. The participants have shown great enthusiasm in the course as they listened to the faculty and honed their skills in the practice sessions with self-discipline and inquisitiveness.
 
The classes were visited by Sri P. Vasudeva Rao, Director (Operations), Sri M.Subramanyam, Director (PA&W), Sri P. Raja Rao, Director (E&M) , Sri P.C.Sarma , CGM(HRD), Sri M.V.V.Subba Rao , GM(F&A) and Col.Jaffer Naseem , CSO.
 
While thanking the faculty, the participants expressed that this programme inspired them to find leisure and make best use of it.
 
The programme received applause from all the senior officers and was also covered well in the local newspapers.
