About Us

Environmental Policy  To be a role model in protection of environment for sustainable development, SCCL is committed to implement the best global practices in all its operations through prevention / mitigation of pollution, proper disposal / recycling of wastes and bringing awareness among all the stakeholders for continual improvement in environmental performance.

The company is having a full-fledged Environment Department for preparation of EIA/EMPs for New/Expansion Coal  Mining Projects,  impact assessment studies,  implementation  of  environmental  safeguards and other environmental initiatives.

SCCL has been preparing EIA/EMPs since 1985 and so far obtained Environmental Clearance for 67 projects including 2x600 MW Power Plant and Sand Mining Project.

In  compliance  to  MoEF  guidelines,  SCCL  has  registered  with    QCI/NABET   and  has  been  provisionally accredited  as  an  EIA  consultant  organization. With this accreditation,SCCL has become eligible to carry out EIA/EMP  studies  and   present   them   in   the  Expert  Appraisal  Committee  meetings  at  MoEF  for seeking Environmental  Clearance   for  coal  mining  projects. Corporate  Environment Department is also having ISO-9001-2008 certification.

SCCL has launched a number of  'eco-friendly'  practices  to mitigate damage to environment and improve the quality of life.

A  number  of key initiatives taken up by SCCL for environment protection in the recent years include setting up        of  Automatic  Dust  Suppression  arrangements,  Sewage  Treatment  Plants,  Effluent  Treatment Plants, Bio-engineering structures on Over Burden Dumps,Clonal Plantations, Medicinal Plantations and development of Parks & Gardens.
