The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. is the oldest Govt. Mining Company in the country having a history of 118 years in coal mining. The company produced 37.71 MT of coal in the year 2006-07 and is a profit making and dividend paying company. The company is strong in Modern Coal Mining Technologies in Opencast and Underground Mines, usage of IT, Equipment Maintenance, Coal Handling and Modern Management practices.
It has charted out an aggressive growth strategy by leveraging its core competency in Coal Mining operations by extension of its business operations into Underground Coal Gasification, Surface Coal Gasification & Coal Bed Methane in its command area and Coal Mining out side the State of Andhra Pradesh.

MoU with Andhra Pradesh Gas Power Corporation Ltd. (Signed on 18-06-2007 to co-operate and promote one or more Joint Venture Companies with the aim of jointly undertaking Coal Mining, Mining Beneficiation, processing, operation & maintenance in India.

Carbon Energy Pty. Ltd         

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has entered into a MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) with Carbon Energy Pty. Ltd (CEPL), Australia on 15th November, 2006 for investigation of the potential for Underground Coal Gasification in SCCL command areas. CEPL and SCCL will consider forming a Project Group to develop Underground Coal Gasification(UCG) Prospects for coal lease areas held by SCCL and both the companies will evaluate the possibility of shared ownership of UCG based on prospects developed by the project group. In this connection Sri S.Narsing Rao, I.A.S., Chairman & MD, SCCL and Dr.Cliff Mallet, Executive General Manager,CEPL, Australia have signed the MOU at Hyderabad.
NTPC         

Sri R.H.Khwaja, IAS, C&MD, SCCL and Sri Shankaralingam, C&MD NTPC have signed a MOU on behalf of their companies on 23-08-2006 at Hyderabad in the Presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for co-operation and promotion for Joint Venture companies for jointly undertaking various activities related to coal mining, integrated coal based power projects and related consultancies, in India and abroad. Sri K.V.P. Ramachander Rao, Adviser to the Government, Sri Shabbir Ali Mohd., Hon’ble Minister for I&PR, Energy and Coal and Sri A.K.Goyal, IAS, Special Chief Secretary Energy were also present.

ONGC        

Sri R.H.Khwaja, IAS, C&MD, SCCL and Sri Subir Raha, C&MD. ONGC Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their companies to Cooperate in the service, operation, process Development and Research related to Underground Coal Gassification (UGC), Surface Coal Gassification (SCG) and Coal Bed Methane(CBM) on 15th April , 2006 at Hyderabad in the presence of Sri Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy , Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
COMMON WEALTH SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANISATION        

SCCL entered into Relationship arrangement with CSIRO, Australia on 01.02.2006 at New Delhi. This arrangement facilitates R & D projects in Strata Mechanics, ventilation and other related subjects with specific reference to Longwall Mining. Sri R.H.Khwaja, IAS, C & MD, SCCL and Dr. Cliff Mallett, Acting Chief, CSIRO exchanged the relationship arrangement. Mr. Bob Baldwin, Parliamentary Secretary to Australia is also present.

With 80 years of experience in Coal mining, SCCL has acquired expertise in different activities.

SCCL is proposing to take-up consultancy jobs related to mining in the following areas.

SCCL is having an ISO 9001 : 2000 accredited Exploration department with highly qualified, academically brilliant , strong inter disciplinary experts comprising of 44 Geologists, 15 Drilling Engineers, 8 Geo-physicists and 4 Hydro- Geologists bringing out the Insights of the the Earth’s hidden Treasure. SCCL is equipped with 3 numbers of sophisticated digital Geo-Physical Loggers. The cumulative drilling in SCCL is around 1,00,000 metres per annum. So far SCCL prepared 149 Geological Reports.

SCCL has an ISO 9001:2001 accredited Project Planning Department, competently undertaking Coal Mine Planning, with 50 professionals in the fields of Opencast and Underground Mining, Mine Environmental Engineering, Mine Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Econometrics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Geology and Minex Software and prepares 15 Project Reports every year. So far SCCL prepared 39 Environmental Management Plans and obtained clearance from MOEF.
